Helpful Hubby

I've tried not to gripe on my husband much for being a slacker lately. He had been doing awesome working out every day, getting up, taking the trash out, and taking care of the lawn before he broke his shoulder! Then insert broken shoulder, surgery, then knee surgery and he became completely useless. Finally he is all healed up and back at work! He has still been useless though... but slowly getting better, like taking care of the trash. Then yesterday he got a wild hair up his butt and went out into the back yard and mowed!!!Oh gosh it is WONDERFUL! The grass, and worse, the weeds were going crazy back there. Some of the weeds were about as tall as the kids! Now it looks like an actual backyard, plus the grass is getting green and it's starting to look beautiful back there. I think this next week or so he'll really be getting back into things and I'm so looking forward to it. I don't mind that he doesn't do much around the house but I've missed the yard looking nice and the trash not being my job. It's good to have him back to his wonderful helpful self!

Let's Play Ball & Wash a Car!

We had a very busy morning. Opening ceremonies were today at Capitol Park Little Leauge where Logan has played baseball for the past 2 years now. After the ceremony we headed home for some lunch and naps for the middle boys. When they woke up we rushed over for Logan's first T-Ball game of the season (his last season playing T-Ball! He'll start coach pitch in the Fall). The sun decided to come out from behind the clouds during the game and boy was it toasty out! The boys had fun watching Logan play and Logan even ran and got the ball when he was in the outfield! YAY! When we finished at the game we all were so hot and I decided that since Logan played awesome and the middle boys were so well behaved, we could go to Sonic to get a slushie (plus it was 2:30pm so drinks are 1/2 price! :D).

I wasn't sure at first what would be fun for the boys to do and I didn't think they would want to just head into the backyard and play so I asked if they wanted to wash the van (I made sure they knew it meant playing with the hose lol) so they were really excited!. Logan changed and I got somethings together so they could clean the van a little. They had a blast! While my van isn't spotless by any means, it definitely looks a LOT better now. Maybe tomorrow I'll make them clean out the interior with me :).

After we finished in the front yard they decided they wanted to go in the backyard so I got to clean up the house a little and get dinner started while they did that. The other day on the Food Network I saw a bit of a reciepe for a leek salad and when I shopped last week I bought some things to make it. I didn't have an exact receipe but I cooked the leeks, fried up and chopped some bacon, diced a few tomatoes and tossed it together with dressing I made from scratch! Since I wasn't even sure if I would like it, let alone the boys, I just made some corn dogs and chicken nuggets as a back up. The boys didn't care for the salad much but I thought it was DELICIOUS! I think my husband will like it too. There were some leftovers so he can taste it, but I'm not sure how good it will taste when he gets around to it.

Roaming Children?

There are a few young boys (ages 6 & 7) that are always out and about with no parents to be seen. One day a couple weeks ago they made friends with Logan (and CJ who likes to butt in lol) when we were all out playing with bubbles and chalk. Since then they have come by a few times wanting to play. I feel kind of bad because I always say no. But they come in the evening on school days and I am just not up to going outside with all the boys when I'm needing to do dinner and clean up and tend to the baby. And above all, I am NOT going to let MY boys go outside by themselves. I have considered inviting them to play in the backyard at times (that way I know my boys are safe and contained but they still get to play with their friends) but I don't want to have these kids back there with out knowing that their parents know where they are so they can find them if they decide they want to. I know I played outside when I was little, but 6 just seems really young to me. Logan asked today, after the boys left when he told them he couldn't play, "why don't they ask me to play on the weekend?" I guess he isn't as upset about not getting to play because he knows it's a school night and that we have a routine on school nights. He's such a good boy!

5 boys, a girl, the Zoo and a Museum

We had planned on taking the boys to Fiesta Texas but realized the night before that it was closed during the week. Logan had minimum days the last 2 days and since Daddy was off work we ended up taking all 4 little boys to the zoo and then over to the Witte Museum. The boys had a great time getting to hang out with Daddy since usually I take them to the zoo myself and we haven't been to the museum in a while. It was really nice getting out for a fun yet relaxing day as a family. It makes me so excited that summer is right around the corner so we'll have more time together with all 6 of us.

Last Day of Spring Break :(

After a wonderful week full of sleeping until around 8am and lots of lounging around the house, Spring Break is coming to an end! Tomorrow is back to the grind of getting up at 6:30 every day, working out when I get home, back to the schedule and keeping the house clean, and hopefully the boys going down for nap and bed time easier because they will be back on schedule (ok so I guess it's not ALL bad). At least we spend this last weekend of Spring Break (and last weekend that Daddy has off on the actual weekend) having fun! Yesterday was a super lazy day. We just hung around the house, the boys played outside, Daddy made some dinner, we took a walk to the gas station and got some dessert! Doesn't get much better than that! Then today we lounged around until after nap time (and by me I mean everyone but me, I went grocery shopping and cleaned out the fridge) and then I took all 4 boys to a birthday party while Daddy studied and made dinner. After the party I stopped at my grandma's house to say hi (the party we went to was in the same neighborhood) and when we got home dinner was almost ready! The boys had a fun day and I think Logan really enjoyed his first ever Spring Break!

Holy Busy-ness!!!

My brother-in-law came to town this week and we have been NON-STOP since he got here. His first day here we went to Sea World. We saw some shows and Logan was tall enough for one of the BIG roller coasters, Steel Eel! Since it was Spring Break the park was really packed so it made it hard to get to do everything we wanted. They have a new area for little kids with lots of rides that CJ & Wyatt can probably go on, but there was just WAY too many people to get them on this time. They won't let me take Jameson on them either so we'll have to take turns taking the boys on the rides next time we go. Even if they didn't go on any rides they still had a great time.
After our fun day seeing shows and riding rides at Sea World we decided to go out to have some dinner at Dave and Busters. The food we ate was delicious and all of the boys got to play games and had a great time.

The next day we packed up and drove to Medina Lake for a day. We hadn't been sure what to do that second day and the first time I suggested it my husband said NO! But I suggested it again and figured we would have a much more relaxing day if we were at the lake than staying home all day. Even though the water was a little too cold to swim in, the boys had a great time playing, eating, and roasting marshmallows to make s'mores! We had a way better time than expected by my husband and it was super relaxing for everyone. Since the lake is only about and hour away we decided we will probably take more day trips up there (on top of going up to camp once or twice a year).

Wednesday was Six Flags!!! It was a first for everyone but me to go to Fiesta Texas and the kids L-O-V-E-D it! Logan was a little upset we didn't get to go on any of the big coasters though. It was pretty packed though so we just went on a few rides that CJ and Wyatt could also go on. We got passes to Sea World & Fiesta Texas so we'll be making lots of trips there this summer. We all had SO much fun!

Of course with all this fun and being out of the house from after breakfast until after bedtime the house has kind of fallen to the wayside. Since my brother-in-law leaves tonight, I'll be starting cleaning, organizing, and getting back to my routine.

Catch-Up anyone???

Geeze! I feel like all I've done on this blog is play catch up! This last time isn't completely my fault though, my computer plug broke so I didn't have my lap top. Now I'm back on my computer and just have to find the time to get everything from the past few weeks up and then keep up with my blogging again.

The boys, my husband, and I have all been passing around sickness lately. When at least one of us isn't feeling well it's hard to get much of anything accomplished and when I am not feeling well almost nothing gets done. I think we are finally heading on the upward slope here though. Today I went and got new glasses, which I am hoping will help solve this constant headache I've had. Jameson is getting older and it's helping that he isn't eating so much so I have more time to get things done. This next week is Spring Break so when Logan goes back to school I'll really get getting back on my schedule.

Here are some pictures of the fun we've had recently :)
